Managing Stress

My first newsletter to you was about recognizing stress. I thought as the holidays quickly approached writing about stress management may be timely. I am sure we all know some of the ways to manage stress. I hope this comes, then, as a gentle reminder or that something new may be learned or tried.

Here are some ways we can manage stress this holiday season.
  • Get a good night's sleep. Although we have many things to attend and accomplish, remember to refresh your body with sleep
  • Relax. Spring for a massage, listen to soothing holiday music, take a luxurious tub, or indulge in a nap. Do something that relaxes your spirit.
  • Nourish your body with healthy whole foods. During the season of indulgence, feed your body the nutrients it needs when you are not at a party or social gathering.
  • Come into stillness, whether this means meditation or prayer for you. Connect with yourself and the Divine presence in your life.
  • Make time for exercise. By moving our bodies we create strength in our muscles and lungs that help reduce stress responses.
  • Let it out. If you are feeling overwhelmed and sressed find someone to talk to, a journal to write in or a shoulder to cry on. Release the built up tension.

Share these ideas for managing stress with your daughter. Make this holiday season one of less tension and stress and one of more love and light.
